Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your group select trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Updated 12th-floor studio with ocean views, balcony, pool, hot tub, WiFi, & A\/C has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
