Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Upscale Penthouse With Incredible Views! Beautifully Renovated - Palace Resort 2308 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
