Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. A504 at The Myrtle Beach Resort: Wave Hello to Relaxation has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
