Our top Vacation rental tips:
Finding your best deal:
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Seeking snowbirds! 50% off month-long stay has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
