Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 2 Bedroom 2 Bath: Walking distance to Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
