Vacation rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by having your family select dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Stunning 14th-floor oceanfront condo with beach views, hot tubs & pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
