Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 17th-floor, partial ocean-view condo with pools, beach access, fast WiFi, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
