How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local tours and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation rental:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Remodeled Family Friendly Condo - Steps away from the Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
