Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose and book yourrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 19th-floor ocean-view studio with WiFi, pool, hot tub & AC - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
