Strategies to get the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Start by having your family commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Low Floor 1BR, Direct Ocean Front Heated Pools! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
