Rental booking tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the largest rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

How to select the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 2 bdrm\/2 bth w\/3rd sleeping area -Golf Cart has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
