Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First and foremost, have your group choose dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 3BR/2BA Dunes Village Unit 520, Breathtaking View has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
