Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by having your family select dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 6th-floor studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
