Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 9th-floor beachfront condo with incredible views, balcony, hot tubs, pools, AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is right for your group.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
