Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to your budget:
- To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Amazing Pond View condo + pool at MyrtleWoods has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
