Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Angle Oceanfront Suite w/ Balcony + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
