Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Narrow your Search:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Waterside Paradise Suite with View 9th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
