Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. End of August and Fall weeks available, golf cart & linens has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
