Tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best rental within your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Awesome condo at Magnolia Place Myrtle Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
