Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- First, have your group select dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. \"A Wave'n Grace\" Gorgeous Oceanfront Condo w\/Panoramic Balcony Views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you crave, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
