How to find the best rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. On the Beach at Kingston - Impressive Ocean Views from your oversized balcony! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
