Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If not, email the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
