Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:

  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
