Tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking the best Myrtle Beach rental:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Classic Beach Escape 1bd\/1ba Condo with Ocean VIew has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If not, call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
