Tips to get the best rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront 3 Bedroom\/2Bath at SeaWatch Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
