Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation rental:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful condo in quiet neighborhood, 10 mins to the beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
