Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Beautifully Updated Direct Oceanfront King Suite - Monterey Bay 1035 - Sleeps 6 Guests! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the host before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
