Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to the best dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beachfront 1BR Condo at Dunes Village Resort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
