Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Coastal Escape: 1BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
