Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Cozy 2BR 3BD, loft style Condo in beautiful Surfside Beach, with pool & hot tub has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
