Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Direct OCEANFRONT 1st floor End Unit Myrtle Beach Resort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you crave, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
