Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To book the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to pick the best rental:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Direct oceanfront, separate bedroom, full kitchen - rates lower than last year ! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
