Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Choosing the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Remodeled 3 BdRm Unit-Full Acces-908 Margate has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
