Tricks and tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing the perfectrental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Family Friendly....Gated 33 Acre Ocean Front Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
