Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the best rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Gorgeous Ocean Front Condo on 17th floor, with Marshland Views. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Additional considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
