Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- To start, have your group select trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Golf Course View, 3 Bd 2Ba, 1st Floor Condo, Free WiFi Available, Prime Location has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
