Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by having your group choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ground Floor 3 Bedroom Condo! Magnolia Pointe 105! Sleeps 6 guests has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
