Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Restful Guest Cottage Pool 4 Blocks to the Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, email the host before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
