Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Harbour Lights™ - 2 Bedroom Combined has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is best for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
