Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • To start, have your group agree to the best dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Harbour Lights™ - 2 Bedroom Villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. text the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
