How to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Heated pools and direct oceanfront at Coral Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your contract.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
