Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Choosing and booking your prefectrental:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. High-Rise Heaven: Deluxe One Bedroom King Suite has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
