Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the rightrental:
- Start by having your family commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Incredible Views! Sea Mist Resort 51610 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
