Tips to get the best vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Island Time by StayMareni has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
