Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Royale Palms Beautiful Studio Perfect for 2 adults has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
