Our top Rental property booking tips:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. 2 Bedroom 2 Bath Direct Oceanfront on the Boardwalk has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
