Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Pool View
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Have a great stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
