Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your group choose dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Highly Rated, Great Location, 1/2 block to the beach!!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
