Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the best vacation rental:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. A402 at The Myrtle Beach Resort: Beautiful Ocean Front Condo has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
