How to book the best rental home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental:
- To start, have your family choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Myrtle Beach Resort Renaissance Towers unit #209 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
